20. Unpacking our new duplex eco-friendly printer

Last week, Office Max had a printer deal too good to pass up.  The Lexmark Prevail Pro-705 printer was on sale for $129.00 and if you traded in an old printer for recycling, they would knock off another 50 bucks.  So we brought in a broken printer and picked up a green printer for about $80.00.
We wanted a printer for our home office that would automatically print on 2-sides to reduce our paper consumption by 50%.  Activating the Eco-Mode button takes care of that and other tasks.  Other features we were looking for included durability, WI-FI, a recyclable unit, and Energy Star certification. This printer has a 5-year warranty with registration, is 99% recyclable, and prints from a flash drive or memory card.  It scans, faxes, and shipped with enough ink to print 510 pages.  We keep shipping boxes (and packing materials) for electronic goods for future safe transport.  The user manuals are filed in transparent plastic file boxes.

Set-up was easy.  The product brochure, available as a download from the Lexmark website, states that the printer works with Macintosh, Windows and Linux operating systems.

For a small investment, it is now possible for many people to buy an efficient printer that will help save our natural resources.

  1. A deal you shouldn't skip indeed! Since this is an eco-friendly printer, aside from it prints 2 sides at a time, does it also use eco-friendly inks, like vegetable and soy inks? Using this not only avoids damage to the environment, but also saves you money because these inks are way affordable. By the way, how's is the printer now? How does it differ from using the traditional printers? Share your experience with us.
